The problem with baking cookies that yield 24-you will eat them all! My picky, 2 year old son doesn't eat anything sweet except for gummy bears. My husband works long hours and is never home. So I have a fresh batch of chocolate chip walnut cookies that I meant to have out for our playdate at home. I cancelled the playdate because Diego had fever but I went on and baked the cookies anyway! Oh well. Very yummy.
My first attempt to bake cookies comes during my "put everything in the oven" week. I didn't have an oven in Japan and while I was in NYC I was working full time and didn't bother with trying to bake. In Chicago, my mother used her oven for storage. For birthdays, she was super content with buying a box of Betty Crocker's Devil's Food, a tub of chocolate frosting and there you have "pastel de chocolate"!
Now, I have a lot of time to putz around and try to fill my days with other activities besides playdates and having coffees with "mums". But just like with everything new that I try to do, I kill it. It's on my mind 24/7 and I wake myself up in the middle of the night thinking, "tomorrow I'll roast a chicken in the oven" and keep going for another 2 weeks until I'm bored and the next challenge comes to mind.
BTW, here is the recipe!
